CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL WALL OF FAME INDUCTION CEREMONY
CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL
WALL OF FAME
INDUCTION CEREMONY

Con was so pleased and honored to be among the 2007 inductees into the Wall Of Fame at Central High School in Knoxville, TN. His alma mater bestows this honorable distinction annually to past graduates that have gone on to have successful careers in their chosen profession. The ceremony held on September 22, 2007 honored Con along with 3 other graduates that have gained professional recognition during their careers.

A breakfast was served before the ceremony to give the inductees and guests an opportunity to mingle and reminisce. Photos were on hand of the individual graduating classes of each honoree invoking wonderful memories of days gone by.

Central High School Principal Jon Miller welcomes everyone to the ceremony. He talks about all the changes the school has undergone over the years, and thanks each inductee for setting such great examples for the students he currently sees there everyday.
Presenters and speakers Pam Eubanks and Knox County Commisioner
R. Larry Smith - both graduates of CHS.
The first inductee to be honored was Tim Irwin.
Tim enjoyed a successful career in the NFL playing for the Minnesota Vikings for 13 seasons before heading to Tampa Bay and later to Miami.

Tim returned to Knoxville in the mid-90's to practice law and is currently serving as Knox County Juvenile Judge.

Next was Dr. James L Blankenship.
Dr. Blankenship is well-known in the scientific community as inventor, researcher and professor of nuclear physics.
Con was then brought up to accept his award. He spoke of how proud he is to be a "Centralite", and how special his high school days are to him. Then he shared a couple of fun stories to the delight of the crowd.
Ahhh...those were the days....
Next up was former Lawrence Welk singing star, Ava Barber. Barber performed as a regular cast member on The Lawrence Welk Show until the show ended in 1982. She then formed her own band, had her own theater in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee for a while and currently performs in reunion tours with other castmembers from the Welk show.
As you can see Con was in impressive company...
...a good looking bunch, too!
As the presentations concluded, the crowd was in for a treat!
In appreciation for her induction, Barber brought her band along
to entertain the crowd
with a few songs.
And soon she couldn't help but ask Con to get up and join her in singing a song!
After much urging from Ava and the crowd Con got up, loosened his tie, and he and Ava teamed up on a song everyone could sing along with - "Rocky Top"!
Everyone was having so much fun that after just a couple of verses Con had to break out and have a little "Dancing With The Stars" moment! The whole place erupted with cheers and laughter - priceless!
Ava was tickled pink that Con got up to sing with her - and said she only wished she could cop some of his moves!

This was a terrific occasion, and one that Con and all the honorees were proud to be a part of!

Congratulations -
one and all!
